Palma Airport to Alcudia: crossing to the other side of the island

Alcudia is on Mallorca's north coast, and the drive out from Palma Airport covers pretty much the width of the island — about 60 km, which usually takes 50 minutes to an hour on the Ma-13 motorway.

Mallorca's train network doesn't reach Alcudia. The SFM lines run from Palma to Inca, Manacor and Sa Pobla, which is useful if that's where you're headed, but Alcudia itself has no station, so rail isn't really part of this journey.

There is a direct bus from the airport to Port d'Alcudia, run by the island's TIB network. It's the budget option and it works, but it's not fast — journey time can stretch toward an hour and a half once you add the stops, and services thin out outside peak summer months.

Taxis cover the distance in closer to an hour flat, no stops, but it's a long enough fare that the price reflects it, and Palma's rank can be busy when several flights land close together.

For a trip this length, a pre-booked transfer tends to make more sense than it would on a shorter route — fixed price, no waiting for a bus to fill or finish its loop around other hotels, and a driver already there when you land. Rule of thumb: happy to spend ninety minutes to save money, take the TIB bus. Landing in the evening or travelling with family, book ahead — it's too long a trip to leave to chance.
