Question 1

What is an airport transfer?

Accepted Answer

An airport transfer is a pre-booked ground transport service that takes you from an airport to your final destination — a hotel, resort, ski village or city centre — or back. Unlike grabbing a taxi at the rank, you reserve in advance and the price is fixed before you travel.

Question 2

How do airport transfers work?

Accepted Answer

You book online by entering your pickup airport, drop-off destination, date, time and number of passengers. The provider confirms the booking and sends a voucher. On arrival, your driver meets you in the arrivals hall (private transfers) or at a designated stop (shared shuttles and buses), then takes you directly to your destination.

Question 3

Are private airport transfers safe?

Accepted Answer

Reputable private transfer companies use licensed, insured drivers and tracked vehicles. Look for providers with verified reviews, transparent pricing and a published cancellation policy. ShuttleHunt only compares established operators, but always check the provider's own terms before booking.

Question 4

Do airport transfer drivers wait for you if your flight is late?

Accepted Answer

Most private transfer providers track your flight number and adjust the pickup time automatically — typically waiting 45 to 60 minutes after the actual landing time at no extra cost. Shared shuttles run on a fixed schedule and usually have less flexibility, so check the provider's policy when you book.

Question 5

What's the difference between shared shuttles and private transfers?

Accepted Answer

Shared shuttles carry multiple passengers heading to the same general area — cheaper per seat, but with extra stops along the way. Private transfers are exclusive to your group, go directly to your destination, and let you choose any pickup time. Private is usually 2–4× the price of shared.

Question 6

Why are airport transfers so expensive on some routes?

Accepted Answer

Price reflects distance, mountain or remote terrain, vehicle size, time of day and demand. Ski-resort transfers (Geneva to Verbier, Innsbruck to St Anton) cost more because of long mountain drives, winter conditions and seasonal demand. Booking early and comparing providers — what ShuttleHunt does — usually saves 20–40%.

Question 7

Should I book an airport transfer in advance or just take a taxi on arrival?

Accepted Answer

Pre-booking is almost always cheaper and removes the queue at the rank, especially for resort destinations where airport taxis are scarce or charge surge prices. For short city hops with frequent public transport, walking up to a taxi can be fine, but for anywhere over 30 minutes away, book ahead.

Question 8

Can airport transfers provide child or baby car seats?

Accepted Answer

Most private transfer providers offer infant, child and booster seats as an add-on — sometimes free, sometimes for a small fee. Request seats at the time of booking; they're rarely guaranteed if added at the last minute. Shared shuttles typically don't supply child seats, so check before relying on them.

Question 9

What happens if I need to cancel or change my transfer?

Accepted Answer

Cancellation policies vary by provider. Many offer free cancellation up to 24 or 48 hours before pickup, with partial or no refund after that. Always read the cancellation terms on the booking page before paying, and keep your confirmation email handy in case you need to change details.

Question 10

Is it cheaper to share a transfer with other travellers?

Accepted Answer

Yes — shared shuttles split the vehicle cost across all passengers, so a seat on a shared shuttle is typically 50–75% cheaper than a private transfer for the same route. The trade-off is extra stops, less flexibility on timing, and waiting for other passengers' flights.
